Explosion in Marib

The US Embassy has received reports that a vehicle-borne explosive device has detonated near the sun temple archeological site in Marib (approximately 150 kilometers east of Sanaa), resulting in several deaths and injuries. There are no indications of American citizen casualties.

Embassy employees have been restricted to their residences for the remainder of the evening, and the Embassy continues to urge American citizens to avoid travel to Marib governorate and to maintain a high level of vigilance throughout Yemen.
