Demonstration in Sanaa

May 16, 2007

There will be a large gathering in Sanaa today at around 10 AM to protest Libyan and Iranian interference in Yemeni affairs. The demonstration is expected to start at 70 Meter Road and move to the Libyan and Iranian Embassies near North Haddah Rd. Heavy traffic is expected and all embassy personnel have been advised to avoid the area. We wish to remind American citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. American citizens are therefore urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of any demonstrations.
