Governor of Shabwah, Deputy Minister of Education open USAID workshop to form Supreme Council for Girls’ Education
March 8, 2007 Related PhotosA workshop to form a Supreme Council for Girls’ Education was held April 21-22, 2007. Fifty participants, including the Directors General of all of the governorate’s sectoral ministries (Education, Health, Water, Agriculture, and Economic Development among others), the executives of the Local Governing Council, and a number of civil society organizations participated in the USAID-sponsored workshop.
The workshop’s main objectives were to enable the participants to specify the goals and purposes for such a council, to agree on what its specific roles and functions would be in supporting and promoting girls’ education in the governorate, and to agree on the membership and roles of each member organization represented on the council.
Mrs. Fawzia Noman, Deputy Minister for Girls’ Education and Community Participation and Assistant Deputy Rashid Al-Harithy all emphasized the importance of girls’ education, as well as the importance of forming a supreme council for girls education. They strongly encouraged all stakeholders to take active roles in encouraging more parents to send their daughters to school and to keep them actively enrolled for more years, noting that the girls themselves, their current families, their future families, and the communities will all benefit.

محافظ شبوة ووكيل وزارة التربية والتعليم يفتتحان ورشة عمل برعاية الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية لتشكيل مجلس أعلى لتعليم الفتاة
قامت الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية بعقد ورشة عمل لشكيل مجلس أعلى لتعليم الفتاة في محافظة شبوة شارك فيها 50 مشاركاً بما في ذلك مدراء عموم كل القطاعات الوزارية ( التعليمية والصحية والمائية والزراعية والإقتصادية) والمدراء التنفيذيون للمجالس المحلية وعدد من منظمات المجتمع المدني وذلك من 21 إلى 22 إبريل 2007م.
تمثلت الأهداف الرئيسية لورشة العمل في تمكين المشاركين من تحديد الأهداف والغايات لتشكيل هذا المجلس والإتفاق حول ماهية الأدوار والمهام المناطة به لدعم وتعزيز تعليم الفتاة في المحافظة وكذا الإتفاق على عضوية وأدوار الأعضاء الذين يمثلون منظماتهم في المجلس.
وخلال الورشة أكد كل من السيدة فوزية نعمان وكيل وزارة التربية والتعليم لتعليم الفتاة ومشاركة المجتمع والسيد علي بن راشد الحارثي مساعد وكيل محافظة شبوة على أهمية تعليم الفتاة وتشكيل مجلس أعلى لتعليم الفتاة.
كما شجعوا كل المشاركين والمعنيين للاضطلاع بأدوار فعٌالة لتشجيع المزيد من أولياء الأمورلإرسال بناتهم إلى المدارس والإبقاء على إستمرارية التحقاهن لسنوات أطول في المدارس مشيرين إلى أن ذلك سيعود بالفائدة على الفتيات وعلى أسرهن الحالية والمستقبلية وعلى المجتمع ككل.
