Following the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa on March 18, 2008, the Department of State has authorized the voluntary departure of non-emergency Embassy staff and family members from Yemen for a period of 30 days, which may be extended, depending on circumstances. Embassy employees have been advised to strictly limit their exposure in public places, and to avoid venues with large numbers of expatriates.
