Evacuation Order and Visa Services
April 11, 2008
Following the attack on the U.S. Embassy on March 18 and the April 6 attack on the Hadda residential compound in Sanaa, the Department of State has ordered the departure of non-emergency Embassy staff and family members from Yemen. We continue to provide all American citizen services in Sana'a. However, there may be delays in non-emergency American citizen services cases. Immigrant and non-immigrant visa processing will be reduced. Additional information on visa processing will be posted on the Embassy's website when it becomes available.
The Embassy will continue to keep the American citizen community informed of any future developments that might affect either the security situation in Sana'a or consular services. All American Citizens who have not already done so are urged to register with the U.S. Embassy.
The U.S. Embassy is located at Dhahr Himyar Zone, Sheraton Hotel District, P.O. Box 22347. The telephone number of the Consular Section is (967)(1) 755-2000, extension 2153 or 2266. The fax number is (967) (1) 303-175. The after hours emergency number is (967)(1)755-2000 (press zero for extension). In case of an emergency, if these regular numbers do not work, please call 967-733213509.
Current information on travel and security in Yemen may be obtained from the Department of State by calling 1-888-407-4747 within the United States and Canada, or, from outside the United States and Canada, 1-202-501-4444.
