IEDs at Canadian Nexen Office

On April 9 at approximately 11:30 p.m., two small Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were discovered outside the office of Canadian energy company Nexen in Sanaa. One device exploded and the other was defused. There were no injuries and only minor damage.
U.S. citizens in Yemen should exercise caution and take prudent security measures, including maintaining a high level of vigilance, avoiding crowds and demonstrations, keeping a low profile, varying times and routes for all travel, and making contingency emergency plans such as ensuring travel documents are current. All American Citizens who have not already done so are urged to register with the U.S. Embassy.
