U.S., Yemen sign three-year assistance agreement worth an anticipated $121 million

The Embassy is pleased to announce the signing of a bilateral assistance agreement between the United States and Yemen to fund essential development projects in the fields of health, education, democracy and governance, agriculture and economic development. The agreement, which provides over $30 million this year and an anticipated total of $121 million over its three-year program, is a reaffirmation of the friendship between the people of the United States and Yemen, and of the United States’ commitment to helping Yemen overcome its development challenges.
In conjunction with the reform efforts to which the Government of Yemen has committed, this development assistance will help to improve the lives of thousands of Yemeni citizens.
The agreement was signed on September 16 by Ambassador Stephen A. Seche, Country Director for the United States Agency for International Development Dr. Jeffrey Ashley, and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Abdulkarim al-Arhabi.
الولايات المتحدة واليمن توقعان إتفاقية مساعدات بقيمة متوقعة قدرها $121 مليون
يسر سفارة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بصنعاء أن تعلن عن توقيع إتفاقية مساعدات ثنائية بين الولايات المتحدة واليمن لتمويل المشاريع التنموية ألأساسية في مجالات الصحة والتعليم والديمقراطية والحكم الرشيد والزراعة والتنمية الإقتصادية في اليمن.
وتعد الإتفاقية، والتي بموجبها يتم توفير مايزيد على $30مليون دولار في العام القادم وإجمالي قيمة متوقعة قدرها $121 مليون على مدى فترة البرنامج التي تمتد إلى ثلاثة أعوام، تأكيداً للصداقة القائمة بين شعبي الولايات المتحدة واليمن، وكذا إلتزام الولايات المتحدة بمساعدة اليمن في التغلب على تحدياته التنموية.
وستعمل إتفاقية المساعدات هذه، وبالتوافق مع جهود الإصلاح التي إلتزمت بها الحكومة اليمنية، على مساعدة اليمن في تحسين حياة الآلاف من المواطينين.
وقع على الإتفاقية يوم الأربعاء الموافق 16 سبتمبر 2009 سعادة سفير الولايات المتحدة ستيفن سيش ومدير الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية بصنعاء الدكتور/ جيفري آشلي ومعالي وزير التخطيط والتعاون الدولي عبد الكريم الأرحبي.
