Visit of Brigadier General Ralph Groover to Yemen

  Deputy Director for United States Central Command’s Plans and Programs Directorate Brigadier General Ralph Groover made his first visit to Sana’a from 26-29 May to consult with Yemeni civilian leadership, as well as military and security officials regarding Yemen’s efforts towards reform of the armed forces.

  In his meetings with Yemeni officials, Brigadier General Groover affirmed the United States’ supporting role in Yemen’s significant undertaking with respect to military and security sector reform.  He also emphasized that the United States will serve in an advisory capacity as Yemeni leadership determines the future structure of armed forces within both the Ministries of Defense and Interior. The United States and Yemen have a strong, mutual interest in stability in the region, and look forward to continuing our close cooperation.
