    The U.S. Embassy’s Information Resource Center conducted a project management training workshop in Sana’a on October 18-21, where eight non-governmental organizations were presented with methods and techniques that project managers can use to effectively initiate, plan, control and report on their projects.

U.S., Yemeni Joint Staffs discuss security cooperation
On November 10, representatives of the U.S. Joint Staff concluded a round of talks with their Yemeni counterparts. The U.S. delegation was chaired by Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Smith of the U.S. Armed Forces Joint Staff. The Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Ashwal, chaired the Yemeni delegation.

U.S. Embassy expresses support for press freedom in Yemen
On November 3, Ambassador Stephen Seche and Al-Masdar Editor-in-Chief Samir Jubran met at the American Embassy to discuss the recent ruling by Yemen’s Special Court for Press and Publications regarding Mr. Jubran’s Al-Masdar publication. Senior military official visits Yemen
Vice Admiral William H. McRaven, Commander of the U.S. Joint Special Operations Command, visited Yemen on October 4. During his visit, Vice Admiral McRaven discussed with President Saleh cooperation between the U.S. and Yemen against al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

U.S. welcomes investigation of civilian deaths in Amran, urges Eid cease fire
The United States Embassy in Sana’a welcomes the decision by the Government of Yemen to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding an air attack on a location in Amran governorate where civilian refugees were seeking shelter from the fighting in Sa’ada, and which resulted in a substantial loss of life, including women and children.

U.S. provides additional assistance to displaced in northern Yemen
The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing much needed assistance to those displaced by the ongoing conflict in northern Yemen. In addition to a previous donation of $2.5 million to the World Food Program, the U.S. is also providing $250,000 to UNICEF through the U.N. Flash Appeal for Yemen.
