STATEMENT BY THE GROUP OF TEN AMBASSADORS
April 7, 2012
Ambassadors of the five Permanent Members of the Security Council and the Gulf Cooperation Council resident in Sana’a, and the Ambassador of the European Union, in view of their role as monitors and facilitators of the GCC Initiative and Implementing Mechanism, take note of the decrees issued on April 6 by Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, President of the Republic of Yemen directing a number of personnel transfers among members of the Yemen armed forces as well as governors and other officials of the Government of Yemen. The Group of Ten Ambassadors considers that the Presidential decrees are fully consistent with both the letter and the spirit of the GCC Initiative and with the responsibilities entrusted to President Hadi by the Yemeni people in the election of February 21, 2012. The changes will serve to eliminate points of friction and reduce tensions as envisioned in the GCC Initiative and Implementing Mechanism. The Group of Ten Ambassadors calls on all Yemenis to cooperate fully with the decrees and will view with utmost concern any steps to resist their implementation or impede the operation of the airport or other state institutions, facilities, or infrastructure.
