Embassy Statement on Explosions at School Adjacent to U.S. Embassy

At approximately 12:40 local time, three mortar rounds exploded in the vicinity of the U.S. Embassy compound in Sana'a, Yemen. No U.S. Embassy personnel were injured. There are reports of injuries at a girls' school in the neighborhood and to Yemeni security personnel stationed around the Embassy's perimeter. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. The Embassy will be closed for the remainder of the day on March 18, 2008.
