Demonstration Notice: May 20, 2008
On May 21st, in Sanaa there will be an official event inside the Central Security Office compound, located across the street (north) from Pizza Hut at 0900 and there will be a reception taking place at the Presidential Palace at 1100. Embassy personnel have been instructed to avoid these areas from 0800 through 1200 or until the crowds have dispersed. The Embassy reminds American citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. American citizens are therefore urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of any demonstrations.
