U.S. Government Presents Yemen With $503,000 in Biometric Data Collection Systems

As part of the United States' commitment to assisting Yemen combat terrorism and other criminal activity, visiting Depute Assistant Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation James W. McJunkin delivered to the Yemeni Government state-of-the art thirty biometric collection systems. These systems, with a total value over $503,000, assist in the collection and comparison of biometric data, specifically fingerprints. They are portable, and provide an automated ability to quickly capture and compare fingerprints of suspected terrorists or other criminals. Yemen is the first country in the Middle East to receive this equipment from the U.S. Government, underscoring the significance the United States places on Yemen as a critical counterterrorism partner.
